History

On the market since 1894, and with prudence through the decades. From vegetable seedlings in the market hall in Basel to the first vehicle and the first garden designs of the 1950s. Today, we are a modern gardening and landscaping company.

1894

Founded by Friedrich Salathé-Wohringer. Together with his wife Adele, he cultivated vegetables and flowers and traveled to the city by horse and cart to sell his goods.

1929

Takeover by Ernst Salathé-Schneider (Auf der Mauer). Trained at the Oeschberg horticultural school, he devoted himself to landscaping with the help of his three children, Kurt, Lisa, and Ruedi.

First company vehicle—Harley Davidson

1971

Takeover and expansion of the business by Kurt Salathé-Brühweiler, certified master gardener and landscape architect. With the help of his siblings Lisa Jäckli and Rudolf Salathé.

1980

Competition won with Steib Architects for Grün 80 (green university sector)

1985

Private garden designed by Kurt Salathé Gardening

1994

Foundation of the public limited company Kurt Salathé Gartenbau AG

1999

Christophe Rentzel and Iris Salathé-Rentzel, both landscape gardeners and architects, are leading the company into the future.
